One year ago, our Bushnell, FL facility installed a new wash line in the paint department — the first of many impactful upgrades meant to invest in the grilles, registers, and diffusers (GRD) business unit’s production line.
“The previous 37-year-old machine was limited to a speed of 9-1/2 feet-per-minute,” said Jud Dietz, paint supervisor. “The new washer adds wash bars, nozzles, and an increased volume of cleaning solution providing a more thorough cleaning of parts for a seamless paint finish.”
Over the last year, the GRD business unit has explored strategic purchases to implement equipment to boost workflow and productivity along the paint line and enhance the final product for our customers. This was just a starting point for a series of improvements taking place for the paint system in Florida.
One additional development involved installing sensors system-wide that capture data to better control the coating operation. The team hopes to add more updated equipment, including an efficient cure oven, new ultra-filtration units that service the e-coat tanks, and a larger chiller unit to keep all paint at prime operating temperature. As a result, team members will work with the latest in industrial paint technology while offering customers improved appearance and quality of the finished product.
“These are a few of the steps that will help us achieve future production goals and distinguish ourselves as a top-tier operation,” Jud said. “We’re excited to invest in opportunities for our team to work with some of the most innovative equipment the industry has to offer, which will make their roles more efficient.”
This project is one of many that showcases our core value of investing in our people and operations coming to life. We look forward to the year ahead and the exciting production improvements to help our team members—and products—continue to shine.
