Being easy to do business with is one of our core company values that comes naturally to plant manager Ron Borchardt. If you walk through Schofield’s facility 2, you might find him helping a team member, leading a meeting, or helping to solve a problem. Meet Ron:
Q: Tell us about your role and what an average day might look like for you.
A: My day consists of meetings, communicating with supervisors, and spending time with team members on the floor. Since production runs 24 hours a day, I meet with leaders before the 3rd shift leaves and the 1st shift starts to identify needs.
Q: Why have you chosen a career in manufacturing?
A: My forte is not manufacturing—it’s people. Manufacturing allows me to work with talented people in a growing industry. I was fortunate to have a friend working here before me, who suggested I consider Greenheck Group. It’s hard to believe that was more than 18 years ago!
Q: What’s something you admire about the people on your team?
A: My team is resilient, energetic, and committed to doing their best. I’ve worked with many kinds of people in the Army, but none compare to the team I am lucky to work with now. Whether we discuss work or personal topics, every conversation is important to me.
Q: What career advice would you give to your younger self?
A: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. I was always ashamed of failing, and in my younger years, I tried to hide my mistakes. As I’ve grown, I realize that I can keep others from making the same mistakes if I share my growth with them.
