Continued improvement is a renewed focus area for our Rocklin, CA team. Engagement is high, and participation in 5S+1 and Process Flow Improvements are leading to meaningful changes on the shop floor and beyond.
Team members in Rocklin – spurred by a recently backfilled CI position – are living our core value of continuous improvement through learning, innovation and teamwork. They have become more involved in process improvement, process flow management, and ergonomics review.
“Team member engagement has significantly increased,” said Kyle Bracco, Continuous Improvement leader. “This summer, nearly 20 individuals stepped up to become more active in the continuous improvement process.”
These improvements have led to significant impacts on safety and efficiency across the shop floor, including additional trainings and safety reviews. Process improvement plays a key role in every day work in Rocklin.
“One of our biggest process flow improvements has been implementing a First In, First Out (FIFO) method to supplement the carting process,” said Gerry Rivera, production supervisor II. “FIFO not only helps with our assembly process, but more importantly helps increase our schedule and on-time ship metrics.”
In addition, the team has implemented other smaller improvement, such as adjusting a stationary table to a lift table to ease back pain risks for crate team members.
“Interest in 5S+1 has increased,” said Kyle. “Team members are excited about finding ways to improve their day-to-day. It’s great to see that thirst for improvement.”
