MES hasn’t just launched; it’s already making the workday easier for some of our team members. MES stands for Manufacturing Execution System. It is software that helps communicate the work being done on the shop floor. It can connect to order information, show work instructions, help with quality checks and work with equipment on the line.
A simple way to think about MES is this: it helps connect what needs to be built with the people and equipment doing the work. That matters because when changes happen in manufacturing, they happen quickly. Orders change. Instructions change. Quality checks matter. And we are innovating all the time. How does this translate to the impact of MES? When too much information lives on paper, there is a chance a team member may be reviewing outdated information. That can lead to scrap, rework or extra steps that slow down the team. MES helps make sure our team members are always looking at accurate, up-to date information.
This is one reason Greenheck Group is investing in MES. Our current system will no longer be supported after 2027, but this investment is also a chance to move to a stronger system that can better support our operations as we grow. MES is already being used in the Rooftop Unit BU in Oklahoma, and it’s already making an impact. Assembler Gary Hamilton says that the new MES helps him know what he needs to work on, look up the component parts he needs, and keep track of his quality inspections.
As MES rolls out to more areas, teams will not be asked to figure it out alone. Systems, IT, and MES Core are all involved and have launched a Change Management team to help make the change clear, practical and manageable. MES is not about replacing the knowledge and skill of our team members. It is about giving them better tools to do the job, reduce potential frustration and help our company keep growing.
