Knoxville FAQs

Q: Why was Knoxville selected for Greenheck Group’s newest location?
+
A: Knoxville offers the ideal combination of a strong, available workforce, ample land to support a multi-phase campus, and a community that aligns with Greenheck Group values. Additionally, more than 50% of our customer volume is on the East Coast. Building in Tennessee allows us to reduce freight costs and shorten transit times, improving service for a large portion of our customers.
Q: Is the company’s growth happening only in Knoxville?
+
A: No. One of our core values is “ongoing investments in people and operations.” Our leadership continues to invest heavily into the company. We are consistently investing in technology, automation, expansion, renovation and future operations across all locations.
Q: Why are some Knoxville positions being filled internally, and some will be filled by Knoxville locals?
+
A: We have found the recipe for success on our campuses is an intentional mix of A) existing talent who know our company, values and culture, and B) new local talent who can help us put down roots, find other great talent, and add the spirit of Knoxville to our culture.
Q: What are the plans for the Knoxville campus?
+
A: We purchased 330 acres—an entire business park! Phase one will include two 220,000-square-foot manufacturing plants with connecting office and break room spaces, spanning the first 50 acres. With a total capital investment of $300 million, we’re excited about the long-term growth potential in Knoxville. We’re modeling this expansion after the success of our Tulsa, Oklahoma campus. Since opening there in 2018 on 120 acres, the site has grown to eight buildings and nearly 800 team members.
Q: What does a start-up campus look like for Greenheck Group? How does that work?
+
A: It’s exciting! In the first year, the focus is on building a strong foundation by hiring the right leaders and talent. This includes clear communication around workforce needs, construction timelines, and business processes. Many leaders and team members will travel to Knoxville to support knowledge transfer, training, and equipment and layout planning. Even eight years in, we still view our Tulsa campus as a start-up. We continue to expand capacity, add new shifts, and grow product lines, and we recently completed a new plant to support an additional business unit.
Q: What types of community partnerships does Greenheck Group focus on?
+
A: Before we broke ground in Knoxville, we supported the launch of the Engineering Tomorrow program across Knox County School district. We have also partnered with nearby Carter High School to support their onsite manufacturing enterprise. These are big investments in Knoxville’s future workforce, and we are excited to be part of it. With the growth of a new campus, our nonprofit, trade, and workforce partnerships will be a big focus.
Q: I saw that the company has health clinics at some locations. Are there plans to build a clinic on the Knoxville campus?
+
A: We are hopeful that is the case. We believe in providing affordable, accessible onsite health and wellness services for our team members and their families. Today, we have clinicsat ourSchofield, Wisconsin and Shelby, North Carolina locations. Our Tulsa and Knoxville campuses will be given the same consideration in the future as part of our overall long-term investment strategy.
Q: Why is the company growing so fast right now?
+
A: Our team members are among the best in the industry, and customers have trusted us for more than 75 years. This growth is not short-term or reactionary. Our leaders take a deliberate, long-term approach to expansion, focused on stability, industry leadership, and exceptional customer service. Every investment is made thoughtfully to support our customers, strengthen our position in manufacturing, and create meaningful opportunities for our team members.
Q: Did Greenheck Group get incentives to come to Knoxville?
+
A: Like most large manufacturing projects, this was a partnership with Knox County and the state of Tennessee. Incentives are very common and are designed to help communities attract long-term career opportunities and economic growth. In return, we’re making a significant, multi-phase investment in Knoxville, creating stable careers and fostering our award-winning culture for the long term.
