For nearly a decade, Tempered Air Product (TAP)’s direct gas-fired make-up air units with packaged cooling units have been Greenheck Group’s go-to solution in commercial kitchens. It’s a critical component to Accurex’s complete Kitchen Ventilation System (KVS) offering, along with hoods and fans from KVS and Powered Roof Ventilators (PRV). As new regulations push for eco-friendly refrigerants, our TAP packaged cooling product needed a radical redesign—or risk disappearing from the market altogether.
Our teams faced a monumental challenge: Could we create a next-generation cooling unit that met new regulatory standards while maintaining customer satisfaction? No manufacturer had successfully built a direct fired heating unit using the new refrigerant standards. It was uncharted territory, so the heat was on for TAP’s engineering team.
Meanwhile, our Accurex engineers had to determine whether the market would embrace a product that was truly one-of-a-kind and reaffirm our position of providing best-value solutions to our customers.
Our teams navigated several regulations and struck gold this fall as the new unit passed all required testing. It was a first for the kitchen market — a fully compliant, direct-fired heating and cooling solution with A2L refrigerants.
The customer response was overwhelmingly positive, confirming a need and readiness for our innovative solution. The redesigned unit will be ready for ordering before the new year, setting the stage for a game-changing 2025.
Greenheck Group proves once again that teamwork, vision, and bold thinking lead to extraordinary results. Congratulations to the dynamic team behind this achievement. Here’s to the future of innovation in kitchen systems!
